5 Things I Learned About Hula Hooping

learn to hula hoop

Pre hula hooping days, back in 2010 before settling down and having a family, I invested a lot of my time in hobbies and made sure that my spare time outside of work consisted of creative and fun activities. Not to mention now days I look back and realize just how much spare time I had compared to now raising a family, which gives me tremendous satisfaction and joy, however the days for taking up new hobbies or interests are gone for a few years. Having said that there is lots of fun in entertaining a toddler and engaging in what makes her giggle and getting to share in many fun kids activities.

I was living with my husband in a small one bedroom apartment by the beach in Dee Why on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Australia when during my lunch break at my work computer I somehow stumbled upon a YouTube Video of Shakti Sunfire performing  hoop dance in this video with the Pyronauts at San Fransisco Decompression in 2009. My jaw literally dropped and I found myself on a quest on YouTube in pursuit of more and more hula hoop videos which ignited a fire inside me to give it a go as soon as I got home, so I remember on my way home from work dropping into my local Rebel Sports store who had a selection of small kids hula hoops which I eagerly raced home with to play around with at home in the companion of plenty of hula hooping YouTube clips which just fed my fire even more! Lets face it, life can get pretty jam packed and busy with not enough time for play, so what better way to escape than to escape on a holiday with your travel hula hoops 🙂

When it comes to planing a holiday or your travels, as a hula hooper it is essential that you get yourself a instant collapsible travel hula hoop which you can travel with your hoop comfortably and safely while flying.

Collapsible Travel Hula Hoop as Carry On Luggage

A six part collapsible travel hoop which is what we offer here on our site can be easily strapped to the side of your backpack or carry on luggage. I recommend that you check with the airline that you are travelling with to find what dimensions they allow on-board. These travel hula hoops are great because once collapsed they are small, and easy to manage as you travel, in addition you will not run the risk of being charged for over sized luggage.

travel hula hoops buy australiaOur travel hula hoops which are made and designed here in Australia when collapsed are 50cm long by about 12cm in height which in most instances can fit into a carry on luggage bag which goes into the overhead compartments. I would also suggest that you keep them wrapped and protected, I usually use a towel or a tote bag which is more than sufficient.

During check-in or after landing at your travel destination, security may ask you about your travel hoops and may want to inspect them closely. I usually make light of the situation, give them a smile and say ‘They’re just hula hoops”. Continue reading Travel Hula Hoops Australia

Storing your Hula Hoops and Maintenance

hula hoops australia

Dance and Fitness Hoops are big and can be quite awkward to carry around, transport and store. There are a few pointers to keep in mind for maintaining that nice circular shape of your hula hoops.

1. Keep your hula hoop flat

Storing your hoop upright leaning against a wall or another object can cause it to lose its circular shape, especially if it is located in a warm environment. Consider storing your hula hoops flat on the ground to help maintain its shape. Continue reading Storing your Hula Hoops and Maintenance
